Haruhi Movie screening in Dublin, Ireland

Good news for Haruhi fans or anime fans living in or near Dublin, Ireland, the CineMagic film festival in has posted a schedule for the “We Love Anime” segment of its 2011 event. The festival takes place from May 11 to 18 and this year will show four anime movies:
•The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya – May 13, 6:30 p.m.
•Summer Wars – May 14, 3:00 p.m.
•Redline – May 14, 6:30 p.m.
•Laputa: Castle in the Sky – May 15, 3:00 p.m.

The Prayers of Haruhi Suzumiya

Noizi Ito, the artist best known for the Haruhi Suzumiya and Shakugan no Shana light novel illustrations, posted the picture below of the character Haruhi on Sunday, two days after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. As Ito noted on her Twitter account, even the “Brigade Leader” is offering her prayers. Ito is part of a larger draw for Japan movement in which artists offer their support for the victims of the recent disaster.

Haruhi Suzumiya Desktop Accessory

Kyoto Animation created a cool little desktop accessory program that lets you play around with chibi SOS-dan members right on your computer screen. It comes with wallpapers, a clock, icons, mouse cursors and other fun goodies to ceck out your computer with Haruhi themed tools. And a Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya version is also available. The original program is in Japanese only, but a fan translation was made, check out this blog post  for more info.

Minori Chihara wins Award at 5th Annual Seiyu Award

Minori Chihara has won the Best Singing Award at the 5th Annual Seiyu Awards held this year in Tokyo, Japan. The Best Singing Award is for singing by a voice actor or actress under own name or in a role. Minori Chihara won for her performance of the “Yasashii Boukyaku” ending theme song for The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie. The Seiyu Awards are award ceremonies held annually since 2007 for the recognition of voice acting talent for outstanding performance in anime and other media in Japan.

More Surprise for Novel 10: Bonus Kyon Short Story

The publisher of the Haruhi light novels, Kadokawa Shoten, has announced that a special booklet containing an original short story by Nagaru Tanigawa will come with the limited first edition of the Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya light novel. The story is titled “Rainy Day” and is set during Kyon’s time in middle school. The booklet will also include 64 pages of colored artwork by Gaku Tsugano, Puyo and Noizi Ito.
The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya will ship out on May 25 to Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Hong Kong, and to other countries …
