As most have already known, the tenth novel of the Haruhi Suzumiya series was officially launched in Japan last week on May 25th. The new book is split into two volumes, and the initial release of the collector’s edition also came with a 64-page booklet containing a bonus story by Nagaru Tanigawa and art by Noizi Ito.

No English translations of the novels have been released so far, but we’re already seeing some scans of the new booklet, so hopefully some fan translations will be on the …

Kadokawa Shoten, the Japanese publisher of the Haruhi Suzumiya light novels has declared that the 10th novel in the series, The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya, will set a new record for them by having a first printing of 513,000 copies. The novel will ship out on May 25th in two volumes, so really Kadokawa will be distributing over 1 million copies of The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya in one day. Chukei, a Kadokawa Group Publishing company, will release two books that teach English vocabulary with Nagaru Tanigawa’s Haruhi Suzumiya science-fiction comedy light novel series on April 20. The two-volume Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu de Ei-Tango ga Omoshiroi Hodo Mi ni Tsuku Hon series puts pages of excerpted text from the original light novels side-by-side with pages of their English translations. For example, the books put famous quotes like the Mikuru character’s “Kinsoku jikō desu” (“That’s classified information”) next to their English translations …

Earlier this month, Aya Hirano announced on her Twitter page that she is prohibited from taking on new roles in new anime titles. Aya did not elaborate on who gave her such orders or for what reason, but did say she can continue to work in anime series she is currently casted in and that have second seasons or extended runs. On Thursday, Bandai Namco Games began streaming the above new promotional video for Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisō (The Reminiscences of Haruhi Suzumiya), a “wandering adventure” game for the PlayStation 3 and PSP gaming consoles. The game will ship on May 12 as a tie-in to the 2010 anime film The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.
