Looks like East Coast Haruhi fans will finally get their wish fulfilled and then some. Bandai is having a screening of the film “The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya” at the New York Anime Fest (October 8-10) and the film will be introduced by none other than Yuki Nagato’s voice actress, Minori Chihara. On top of introducing the movie, it looks like she will be performing a concert, doing some panel sessions and signing autographs.

Cristina Vee, dressed as Haruhi, plus a few other anime cosplayers were featured on the local news channel as Michael Lattanzio, CEO of Anime Expo, explains about the convention and the growing popularity of anime in the US. It’s a great primer to help explain the wonderfulness of this series to newcomers and spread Haruhiism. Yesterday, the ASOS Brigade released some details about the Season 2 DVDs of the Haruhi Suzumiya TV series on their Facebook page. The DVDs will be released on August 17, 2010 at a suggested retail price of $64.98 USD. The DVDs come with a bundle of special features such as ‘Behind the Scenes of Aya Hirano’s Music Video’, ‘Endless Eight Prologue’ and CD tracks for ‘Super Driver’ and ‘Tomare!’

Yesterday, Bandai Entertainment released on their Youtube Channel a English Subtitled version of the trailer for the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie. At the end of the trailer, Bandai states that the English DVD will be ‘coming soon’ but did not specify any dates. However, with the flurry of activity and news surrounding the Haruhi movie in the United States, we can expect that the official DVDs will come out this year, and may even be available within a few months. The Adventures of Dr.Koizumi is a fan-made role-playing game. It runs off of RPGMaker VX which you can download for free here. Don’t expect too much though, the game can be completed in about 10 minutes and it seems that Koizumi Itsuki is the only character from the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya which shows up in it. As part of a “The Summer of Haruhi Suzumiya” cooperative promotion between Bandai Entertainment, Crunchyroll, and Yen Press, a one-night-only screening of the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie (English subtitles) will be shown on June 24th at the Laemmle’s Sunset 5 theater in Hollywood, L.A.
Haruhi series English Voice actress Stephanie Sheh (Mikuru) will appear with more cast to be announced as they confirm availability. Stephanie will be autographing the theatrical poster from the film which will be given away to attending theatre goers.
