Minori Chihara has won the Best Singing Award at the 5th Annual Seiyu Awards held this year in Tokyo, Japan. The Best Singing Award is for singing by a voice actor or actress under own name or in a role. Minori Chihara won for her performance of the “Yasashii Boukyaku” ending theme song for The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie. The Seiyu Awards are award ceremonies held annually since 2007 for the recognition of voice acting talent for outstanding performance in anime and other media in Japan.

The North American anime distributor Bandai Entertainment announced on Friday that a batch of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season Two four-disc set and The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya & Nyorōn Churuya-san Volume One disc were found to have an audio error; the Japanese-language tracks on each disc feature monaural sound rather than stereo.
Buyers whose discs are affected by the error can contact Bandai Entertainment at its support page in order to return the original discs in exchange for replacements.

Finally, confirmation for the release date of the 10th Suzumiya Haruhi light novel has been announced. Early spoilers for the  upcoming February issue of The Sneaker magazine have revealed that “The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya” will be shipping on May 25, 2011.  The tenth novel will apparently come in two volumes and will be having a simultaneous worldwide release.  The Sneaker has previously announced in the June issue that “The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya” would be published within the year, but it seems like they meant within 12 months of …

A few days ago, following the official release of the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya in DVD and Blu-ray, the official Haruhi media website Haruhi.tv began displaying an error message on its front page (it has since returned to normal on the 21st).  What made this peculiar was that the message was upside down and the Japanese texts were reversed.  This isn’t the first time the website has pulled something cryptic, on Dec.18th, 2007 the website posted similar phony 404 error message prior to announcing details on the second season of the Haruhi …

The Anime Kobe Awards is a prestigious event held in Kobe city, Japan every year to promote animation and visual media by highlighting the best work the anime industry has produced that year.  This year, the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya has won the best feature film award for 2010, which is quite an honor for the series.  Previous winners of this award in the same category include Studio Ghibli’s ‘Spirited Away’, ‘Princess Mononoke’, MadHouse’s ‘The Girl Who Leapt Through Time’, ‘Paprika’, and Production I.G’s ‘Ghost in the Shell’.
