Well, it was only a matter of time. A camrip version of the Haruhi Suzumiya movie only became available about a week ago, but there’s already have a subbed version out. You can thank the guys at Mazui Fansubs for getting one out so quickly. The video quality is still bad but Mazui did a good job of cleaning it up and now at least you can understand the dialogue. When the movie Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu came out, some of the first viewers got Filmstrips from it, and the board 2ch made an attempt to gather them all together and create their own ‘camrip’ out of it. They have finished gathering what they could of the filmstrips, and have now created the Disappearance Haruhi movie in the form of images! In a surprise announcement that caught almost everyone by surprise, Bandai announced today that a new Haruhi movie is in the works right on the heels of the Disappearance movie. Bandai stated that it will be a joint project with Nickelodeon featuring a cross-over story between Haruhi Suzumiya and Invader Zim.  Although this is an industry first, Bandai hopes the move will help garner a wider audience by appealing to fans of both series. New 15 and 30 second versions of a commercial for the Haruhi Suzumiya movie have been posted at the haruhi.tv website.  The song in the background is the official theme for the movie, “Yasashii Bokyaku” by Minori Chihara.  The end of the commercial lists a DVD release date: Feb. 26, 2010 (Edit: correction, the date is for the DVD release of Suzumiya no Gensou)  This could be very good news for the Haruhi fan community as fansubs will certainly follow. Not yet anyways.

In case anyone forgot, the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie premiered this past Saturday in movie theaters across Japan to great fanfare. At the Sunshine Cinema in Tokyo, die-hard Haruhi fans began lining up 8 hours prior to the first screening in the cold of the early morning (source); the line-up eventually stretched up to 500 people.
