We’ve got confirmation of the DVD and BluRay release date of the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie from several Japanese websites. As long as Bandai doesn’t run into another “processing error” like the did with the second season English DVDs, Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoshitsu will be hitting shelves (in Japan at least) on December 18th — just in time for Christmas.
Here’s what will be offered with the limited edition Bluray:

A member of our forums (Ansem’s Way) recently attended the Japan Expo in Paris, France where Kadokawa Pictures was hosting a booth showcasing production sketch artwork and key animation cels from the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie. He was able to snap a bundle of photos to share with us, view them below. None of the animation cels or sketches were for sale at the showcase. Unfortunately, no new news of the DVD release date of the movie outside Japan was announced at Japan Expo.

Looks like East Coast Haruhi fans will finally get their wish fulfilled and then some. Bandai is having a screening of the film “The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya” at the New York Anime Fest (October 8-10) and the film will be introduced by none other than Yuki Nagato’s voice actress, Minori Chihara. On top of introducing the movie, it looks like she will be performing a concert, doing some panel sessions and signing autographs.

Yesterday, Bandai Entertainment released on their Youtube Channel a English Subtitled version of the trailer for the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie. At the end of the trailer, Bandai states that the English DVD will be ‘coming soon’ but did not specify any dates. However, with the flurry of activity and news surrounding the Haruhi movie in the United States, we can expect that the official DVDs will come out this year, and may even be available within a few months. A new video from Bandai Entertainment’s Youtube channel highlights the U.S. Premiere of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie that took place in San Francisco, on May 21, 2010. Similar to the Japanese premieres, the US premiere also featured lived events, special prizes and merchandise booths. Chistina Vee was on hand for autograph signings and live performances. A new clip from the ASOS Brigade was released showing Christina watching a trailer of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. At the end of the clip is an announcement that on May 21, 2010 the Viz Theatre will get an early North American screening of the film, the first on this side of the Pacific.
