It’s only been a few days since the preview to the 10th Haruhi Suzumiya novel came out in the latest issue of The Sneaker magazine, but one hard-working Haruhiist has already put out a English translation of it! A user named Cnet128 from the Animesuki forums has kindly posted a 27 page PDF file of his work. Here’s a few links to download it: Megaupload, MediaFire, DLL. Even though the Baka-Tsuki translations of the novels have ceased, the appearance of this fan translation is a good sign that we ...

Some very good news for Haruhi fans came out with the June issue of The Sneaker magazine. About two month ago we heard that Nagaru Tanigawa will publish a small excerpt from his tenth novel, the Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya, in The Sneaker but an additional announcement is confirming that the novel in its entirety will be published this year. Though no specific date has been officially set yet, Tanigawa has reportedly completely 75-80% of the novel already and has 370 pages in his current draft. This effectively ...

The latest issue of The Sneaker has announced that a part of the 10th novel in Nagaru Tanigawa’s Haruhi Suzumiya series will be published in its next issue. Volume 10 is entitled the “The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya” and has been postponed since 2007. The next issue of The Sneaker will be released on April 30th, 2010. However, with Baka-Tsuki recently forced to stop their English translation of the novel, whether a fan translation will ever be available in the future is up in the air.

The last Haruhi Suzumiya light novel: volume 9 The Dissociation of Haruhi Suzumiya was officially released in Japan on April 1, 2007 (no April’s fools joke, really). It’s September 2009 now, but volume 10 which is titled ‘The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya’ has yet to be published. The Dissociation of Haruhi Suzumiya kind of left things at a cliffhanger, so I’m sure many fans are anxious to know what happens next; but having to wait over two years is a bit much. Volume 10 was supposed to be released ...

Good news this week, early spoilers say that this week’s Haruhi Suzumiya season 2 episode will be the last one in the hell we have come to call Endless Eight. I’m still not too sure what Kyoto Animation thought they’d gain by doing so many loop episodes. If it was an experiment to test the limits of otaku patience, it certainly succeeded. But my gut feeling is that it was just a cheap filler tactic to stretch out the series into as many episodes as possible and ultimately increase DVD ...

Volume 9 introduces three new female characters seen in this picture, from left to right are Kyouko, Kuyou , and Sasaki. The most interesting of the three girls is Sasaki, a friend of Kyon’s from middle school. Her appearances naturally evokes feelings of jealousy in Haruhi, leading to more “closed spaces” to form. What’s even more intriguing is that a rival agency to the one Koizumi belongs to believes Sasaki has a similar power to Haruhi in that she can create her own version of the “closed spaces.”

The Intrigues of Haruhi Suzumiya
After closing the time loop from The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Kyon believes he is starting the new year with a blank slate and perhaps free of the confusions of time travel. However, one day, the Mikuru from eight days in the future appears in the SOS Brigade’s broom closet, saying she was sent back in time by Kyon himself.
