Perhaps riding off the wave of popularity generated by the Haruhi Suzumiya movie, a new Japanese commercial from the company Lotte will use Haruhi Suzumiya characters to advertise their Acuo brand gum. The short commercial features actor Toma Ikuta using his nice gum-freshened breath to transform girls… and cats into Haruhi, Mikuru and Yuki. Yes, it is as weird as it sounds, so watch it for yourself below.

Haruhi media has been spotted in a “Akihabara Majokko Princess” music video from actress Kirsten Dunst, McG and Takashi Murakami.  The video was shot in Tokyo’s Akihabara district and features Dunst singing The Vapors’ “Turning Japanese” song while cosplaying as a Majokko (Mahou Shoujo or Magic Girl). Dunst is a self-professed chidhood Sailor Moon fan and has provided dubbing for the English version of Kiki’s Delivery Service film in the past. Talk about Japanese otaku devotion, this guy, dressed up as Jason no less, uses chainsaws to sculpt a wooden version of this Churuya-san and even makes some smoked cheese to celebrate lol.
