Interesting piece of news from Anime News Network:
Chukei, a Kadokawa Group Publishing company, will release two books that teach English vocabulary with Nagaru Tanigawa’s Haruhi Suzumiya science-fiction comedy light novel series on April 20. The two-volume Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu de Ei-Tango ga Omoshiroi Hodo Mi ni Tsuku Hon series puts pages of excerpted text from the original light novels side-by-side with pages of their English translations. For example, the books put famous quotes like the Mikuru character’s “Kinsoku jikō desu” (“That’s classified information”) next to their English translations ...

I must be a few months late with this post, but I thought I’d at least post something for others who missed this. Back in May of 2010 a Haruhi lemon juice was being produced as part of a promotion for the 25th anniversary of NewType magazine. In the magazine announcement, the editors joked about having a coffee of Kyon or Koizumi made as well. Well, that idea has come to fruition as Pokka (the same company who made the Juice of Haruhi Suzumiya) has also began selling ...

The site owner, undoubtly a hero amongst Haruhi fans, has travelled to the various locations in Japan that were scouted out by Kyoto Animation to be used in scenes for the Haruhi Suzumiya anime. The site owner has also conveniently labelled which episode(s)/event(s) each location was used for. There are also location photo hunts the Haruhi Suzumiya movie, as well as a large collection of galleries for locations used in other animes (Clannad, Lucky Star, and more!)
A recent documentary on BBC 3 (a British television channel) featured Beckii Cruel (Rebecca Flint), a 14-year-old girl from the Isle of Man who has become an Internet celebrity and popstar in Japan. Beckii became famous after posting videos of herself dancing to J-pop using her own choreography. She did this secretly, without telling her parents. Beckii commonly cosplays in Haruhi Suzumiya costumes and has done covers for songs like Bouken Desho Desho? and Hare Hare Yukai.
Liz Ohanesian from the LA Weekly Blogs sent in a link to a cool article about the Haruhi Suzumiya series. It’s a great primer to help explain the wonderfulness of this series to newcomers and spread Haruhiism. The post also contains many photographs taken by Shannon Cottrell at the premiere of the Haruhi Suzumiya movie in L.A., so it’s definitely worth checking out. As a precaution, I must warn that some photos contain Man-Haruhi content, so proceed at your own discretion ;p

Perhaps riding off the wave of popularity generated by the Haruhi Suzumiya movie, a new Japanese commercial from the company Lotte will use Haruhi Suzumiya characters to advertise their Acuo brand gum. The short commercial features actor Toma Ikuta using his nice gum-freshened breath to transform girls… and cats into Haruhi, Mikuru and Yuki. Yes, it is as weird as it sounds, so watch it for yourself below.

A short translation of the commercial from ANN explains what the commercial is about:
In the “Boutique” commercial, Ikuta is chewing Acuo gum ...

Dunst is a self-professed chidhood Sailor Moon fan and has provided dubbing for the English version of Kiki’s Delivery Service film in the past.
Even a hugely successful series like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya has a few skeletons in the closet that it wishes would just disappear and be forgotten forever. But here at HaruhiSuzumiya.net, we pride ourselves in collecting and reporting Haruhism in all its forms, no matter how ugly the truth may be. So without further ado, here’s a short list of the past failures of Haruhi Suzumiya media that we rather forget:
