Found this one on Youtube yesterday and thought it was pretty clever: all eight episodes from the Endless Eight arc played simultaneously side-by-side in one 25 minute video. If you haven’t watched all of Endless Eight yet, this will save you 175 minutes of your time but will probably give you a big headache trying to process all of it :p

The crew goes to the back of Yuki’s apartment building to pick up a stray cat to play as Yuki’s familiar. Haruhi picks one, names it Shamisen and decides that it should be able to talk. After she leaves, everyone finds out that Shamisen does indeed know how to speak. The next day at school, Mikuru tells Kyon privately that her group from the future does not share the same belief about Haruhi that Itsuki’s Organization does. In the same day, Yuki tells Kyon that one of them, …

Haruhi and the crew move to a enclosed lot with a lake (it’s more like a stagnant pond) to film more of the movie. She gives Mikuru a new contact, but Yuki tackled Mikuru immediately to remove it and remove whatever powers Haruhi wished onto her this time. Mikuru insists on going on with the movie because she believes it is the only way to appease Haruhi, she even agrees to be dumped into the lake. Tsuruya suggests they bring the soaked Mikuru to her house …

The SOS Brigade is forced to visit various locales to continue shooting Haruhi’s movie. During a mock battle scene, Haruhi demands that Mikuru should fire laser beams from her contact lens. Kyon gets her to be rational, but during the scene Mikuru inadvertently does fire off laser beams that would have done a lot of harm if Nagato hadn’t immediately removed the contact lens. After the day ends and Haruhi goes home, Koizumi discusses with Nagato how to remove the laser ability which Haruhi apparently placed on Mikuru …

This was a great episode if you’re a big Mikuru fan, not so great for Mikuru herself though. Haruhi finally unveils the casting for the SOS Brigade’s movie – Itsuki as a high school esper, Mikuru as a battle waitress from the future and Yuki as the evil alien magician. As if Mikuru isn’t embarassed enough having to wear the skimpy waitress outfit, Haruhi drags her to the strip mall to film commercials for the sponsors of their movie and even makes her put on the bunny girl …

This episode was directed by Hiroyuki Takahashi, the same guy who did K-ON! earlier this year. If you’ve seen K-ON! (and you should, it’s a great anime), you’ll definitely recognize the similar art style used this episode – particularly the faces. I also noticed during the short train scene that the girls standing beside Kyon are wearing the same school uniforms Haruhi will wear in the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. Nice cameo. This episode is the beginning of the Sigh of Suzumiya story arc. After the SOS Brigade pretty …
