Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya “Last in the Series” Error
Amazon has listed the North American release of the Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya as part of their titles available in 2013, but made a little boo-boo in the pre-order page. The original description says that the novel is the last in the series, but most Haruhi fans would know that neither the author Nagaru Tanigawa or publisher Kadokawa Shoten has made any indications of this during the Japanese release of the novel.
The Haruhi Suzumiya Series comes to a close with this tenth and final adventure for Haruhi and the S.O.S. Brigade.
The two storylines from The Disassociation of Haruhi Suzumiya continue, introducing a new inductee into the S.O.S. brigade who may be more than just the eager freshman she appears to be. As the two realities converge, the SOS Brigade learns that the new member may have the ability to bring the two story “timelines” together-and save the world in the process.
The English translation of the Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya will be available on November 19th, 2013 and published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. Although published in Japan as two volumes, the North American version will have both comprised in one volume.
Update: Yen Press Publishing Director Kurt Hassler replied to ANN’s inquiry about the Amazon listing’s description that The Surprise of Haruhi SIzumiya was the last in the series, noting that: “any indication that [The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya] was the final installment of the series was in error and will be corrected accordingly.” Hassler added that “As for the further continuation of the series, we have no knowledge as to the author and publisher’s plans going forward and as fans ourselves can only hope to see it continue into the future!”
