Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya DVD Release Date
We’ve got confirmation of the DVD and BluRay release date of the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie from several Japanese websites. As long as Bandai doesn’t run into another “processing error” like the did with the second season English DVDs, Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoshitsu will be hitting shelves (in Japan at least) on December 18th — just in time for Christmas.
Here’s what will be offered with the limited edition Bluray:
Note: The limited edition DVD version will have the same features disc but will not include the script.

If Bandai was smart, they would do a simultaneous release, since 12/18 is a VERY IMPORTANT date in the movie, which is of course why they are releasing it on that day.
I would love it if they did something similar here.

Even the cheapest one is about $81. I’ve never paid that much for any dvd/blu-ray in my life.
I’m going to Thailand to buy it, cause they have an 80% discount, pre-made english subs, and no region coding. I got the whole Planet Earth DVD set for only $20. (in the U.S. it’s $100 for all the DVDs.)
I’m going to buy it as exclusive special edition and expensive as they sell it. No saving money for this movie. Four months is a long time, though ;_; I have mock exams before that, and school just started.
Do you think someone (from japan oviously) will upload it to youtube or somewhere else?? i was like jumping like YAY when i read in japan, at leats… wait, that means if a japanese uploads it it wont be subbed so someone else who goes to japan to buy it can sub it and upload it… right??

Four more months is a long time, but its worth the wait. Even if it is expensive, I dont mind. It is worth the money.
I can’t wait for the DVD release. Hopefully in the USA it’ll come 1 year later at December 18 or better, earlier. I’m gonna get the Blu ray limited edition and regular dvd for it. Hopefully some sets a torrent in subs or something this year before Christmas.

Um, people in the States use the comma to mean the thousands place, so that 9,450 means nine thousand four hundred and fifty yen. At the time of this post, the currency exchange makes that one-hundred and eleven USD and one-hundred and seventeen CAD.
I think the subbed version your watching is someones cam rip with subs added into it from a fansub group and not from Kyoto Animation… So I think the question still holds unless I’m mistaken

Considering the amount of fans, the speed in which the fansubs work, and most importantly… The fansubs that are fans, then I estimate that before chrismass we are already going to have a subbed version of the movie everywhere on internet.
Though the movie is probably going to come with subs, for some reason fansubs still do their own. Well, as long as I can get it before chrismass, it’s fine XD.

Somebody whose Japanese is much better than mine could perhaps confirm or deny, but it seems the description of the Blu Ray version on KyoAni’s own site mentions only Japanese language audio, without any mention of subtitles, English or otherwise.

All Blu-Ray discs generally sell in Japan in the $70-90 range.
As for why, EVERYTHING is actually expensive in Japan.

Here’s my question, the version released in Japan, will it have English subtitles? Or do we have to wait longer for a version that does? Hopefully bandai doesn’t release a dreadful dubbed version in the U.S. XP
