Haruhi, and anime in general, gets a little spotlight on KTLA, a local station in California. Cristina Vee, dressed as Haruhi, plus a few other anime cosplayers were featured on the local news channel as Michael Lattanzio, CEO of Anime Expo, explains about the convention and the growing popularity of anime in the US. Anime Expo has been held annually at the Los Angeles Convention Center since 1992, typically during the July 4th weekend.

And I’m not surprised that the reporter can’t pronounce “Haruhi Suzumiya”. Still, this report made me laugh a lot, and gave me inspiration for a gag in my fanfic.

It irritated me a little when she couldn’t pronounce Haruhi Suzumiya. I understand the name is a little difficult because it’s japanese, but she could have asked how to say it, or the Expo guy could have corrected her. It’s nice to see it getting around on TV though!

I love watching Japanese animation and comic books. Jesus, people. Get the lingo. When you call anime Japanese animation ever-so-bluntly, it makes the fans sound f*cking retarded to me….

But WTF was with the news reporter’s pronunciations? Haw-Roo-Hee Suzy-Maya?! God, didn’t someone brief her on pronunciation prior to broadcast?!!
If there would be a live-action adaptation of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Cris Vee is the perfect Haruhi.

I would disagree with you there, the only people that are able to pull off a live action version of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya are the japanese and the only person that should play Haruhi would be Aya Hirano
