The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya U.S. Premiere Highlights

3 June 2010 17 Comments

A new video from Bandai Entertainment’s Youtube channel highlights the U.S. Premiere of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie that took place in San Francisco, on May 21, 2010. Similar to the Japanese premieres, the US premiere also featured lived events, special prizes and merchandise booths. Chistina Vee was on hand for autograph signings and live performances. Visitors to the first screening of the movie in the US were also given free film strips from a Mr. Takanashi, who traveled all the way from Japan to watch the Haruhi Suzumiya movie for his 100th time. Mr. Takanashi had accumulated the film strips as door prizes when he saw the movie the previous 99 times in Japan. He was generous enough to share his prizes with American Haruhiists in celebration of his 100th viewing. I think this officially makes him Haruhi Fan of the Year.

Whoo, that Mr. Takanashi must be quite the fan. Not only seeing Disappearance 100 times, but also sincerely endorsing Endless Eight as another great season of Haruhi?

    Man.

My God, I’d like to be there ;_; I will definitely watch the movie over and over again too! Just maybe not 100 times, haha. Waiting eagerly for the DVD/BluRay release.

I hate my country, this will never appear here!
You know, I’m portuguese, from that almost invisle little country called Portugal just at the end of Europe, next to Spain…
So… There is 0% of chance that it’ll appear here…
And if it appears by some sort of miracle, it’ll be proably stupidly dubbed like every other anime that made it to here…
So yeah… I’ll have to wait and survive with the cam-rip subs… And then!! Order the DVD (or Blu-Ray) from E-bay!!!

I was there ^.^ Bandai even posted a link to my review of the event on their Facebook and Twitter. And I’m planning to go see the movie again for its one night Los Angeles premiere. It’s a good time to be a Haruhi fan in CA.

100×163 minutes= 16300 minutes equals 271 TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY ONE hours of that man’s life, like er TWELVE WHOLE DAYS watching Haruhi…

Now I like the series and all, but seriously? Oh well, I suppose people have worse ways to waste their life nowadays, so this isn’t that bad… Uh…

  • Craig Bayfield said:

Seems Mr. Takanashi wants to see the movie 15532 times. He’s entered an endless recurrsion of this movie.

But it’s a dang fine movie and worth endlessly reoccuring.

I have money saved up for the DVD of this movie. I’m going to wait as long as I have to for it. :)
I must admit, you really have to like this series to watch the movie 100 times. And say season 2 is great with the E8 thing. They all got books and manga and posters for going too. I would have had a happy attack being there.

In my opinion, being a big fan shouldn’t just be mindless devotion like this though… Agh, never mind.

I didn’t see the thing about Vee- san going on the 21st and saw it the following weekend (on the 29th). It’s my new favorite movie ^^

It was pretty funny ’cause I’m not old enough to drive yet and I had to bring my mom, who knows about Haruhi from my constant jabbering about it. She thought it was a great movie, just really weird. XD
