June 2010 Cover of The Sneaker magazine

It’s only been a few days since the preview to the 10th Haruhi Suzumiya novel came out in the latest issue of The Sneaker magazine, but one hard-working Haruhiist has already put out a English translation of it! A user named Cnet128 from the Animesuki forums has kindly posted a 27 page PDF file of his work. Here’s a few links to download it: Megaupload, MediaFire, DLL. Even though the Baka-Tsuki translations of the novels have ceased, the appearance of this fan translation is a good sign that we might not have to wait too long for a English version of The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya when it is due to be published later this year.

    May the god’s bless cnet helping us fans of negima and haruhi when no one else will

    I was so surprised by how fast he was able to translate all those pages. That’s some serious dedication! Hopefully he’ll stick around for translations of the remaining chapters when they come out =D

  • kyon (author) said:

    If he does, I hope he won’t try to translate the 300-400 page book alone, you really need a team for something of that length. Haruhi fan translators unite!

    Lolz
    cnet has always been fast with his translations he translate’s the latest manga script’s in about 7 hours after they’ve been released in japan but i doubt cnet would translate the whole book script himself but if he did he’d prolly get it done within 2-3 months

    I’d read it, but I have still yet to read the preceeding book

    I was delighted! Kimidori-san surprised me, tho. I had expected her to be at least a bit jollier than Nagato.

    In any case, I’m still wondering what the Slider girl will do and how she’s related to this.

    I kinda like the cellphone scene… kinda cute too. Maybe because something similar happened to me too

    Tanigawa really has gone nuts.

    I’m dissapointed that Koizumi didn’t spin up more BS philosophies…. So basically, Tanigawa’s tossing random arse alien battles with half-assed explanations now?

    I knew there was a reason I loved Emiri so much.

    @Loser

    He has not gone nuts. Well, at least there’s not much evidence of that at all. It is the prologue after all. There are still a lot of things that has yet to happen.

  • Loser said:

    …Meh… I usually think that crazy/asshole writers make good writers, or maybe that’s just because I’m a crazy asshole.

    I always thought that the alien battles were half-explained only. The rest was covered up by philosophical BS, and that’s probably my role model when it comes to writing up excuses.

    Though I do wonder how many times an angry Haruhi fan walked up to his apartment, rang the doorbell, and started shouting in his face. Well, he probably has bodyguards, lawls.

    godspeed, young rogue translator.

    oh, sry. the link does work. that was a name from a previous post on a different site.

    @Loser:

    I know a great deal of philosophy, and none of Koizumi’s philosophical theories are BS. Everything from the anthropic principle, existentialism, absolutism, and ontological/ other temporal paradoxes are all real and I really appreciate the references.

    As for the battles, this is not an action genre, so you should not expect full battle scenes. It’s the context of the battles and the effects that matter.

    and
    random craxy alien battl scnez = awesomeness!!

    Okay so….give us the date now. Come on….when are we going to see the full novel. It’s already been over a month since this preview was released. Hello…anyone still there?

  • Doritos said:

    Let’s hope the next novel (if there is going to be one) isn’t 4 years in the coming…
    Though I have high hopes for this. Less hopes for it being translated anytime soon, unfortunately…

  • haruhi said:

    due to the 3 year hiatus, Tanigawa san probably got a more shaped idea for a novel 11 and maybe 12

  • haruhi said:

    well no sign yet of Haruhi novel 10 “hope it comes in december”

  • 4nim3w4tch3r said:
