New Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya CM and DVD Release Date

New 15 and 30 second versions of a commercial for the Haruhi Suzumiya movie have been posted at the haruhi.tv website. The song in the background is the official theme for the movie, “Yasashii Bokyaku” by Minori Chihara. The end of the commercial lists a DVD release date: Feb. 26, 2010 (Edit: correction, the date is for the DVD release of Suzumiya no Gensou) This could be very good news for the Haruhi fan community as fansubs will certainly follow. Not yet anyways.

The date listed at the end of the CM is this Friday’s release date for the Suzumiya Haruhi no Gensou DVD. It’s been listed at stores since the begining of January and on the official Haruhi website (where this video was leaked from) since January 21st, but no CMs for the DVD have aired until today’s notice. I highly doubt that the fansub community will sub this video as the much more popular Gekisou concert did not get subbed completely and there are only four songs performed (Bouken Desho Desho?, Yuki, Moon, Madobe Night, Lost my Music, and God Knows…) at this event.
Omg they tease us once again by flashing the release date for one second out of thirty to make us double take…
And what do you mean not going to be subbed? This surpassed the second season which means they SUBEED THE WHOLE ENDLESS EIGHT. They’ll be subbing this for sure. I don’t care is there’s no live concershows I want my movie.
I thought it was a little early but couldn’t read the banner at the end clearly enough. Thanks for clearing it up. Sorry if we got anyone’s hopes up, lol.
@Plagus, I think ultimatemegax was talking about the Gensou DVD not being subbed. It’d be blasphemy to suggest that Disappearance wouldn’t be subbed

Yesssss I like this commercial very much. It may not have shown as much as the original trailer did, considering its length, but you can really see how amazing the animation is in this movie in this. Especially seeing Haruhi’s hair move at the end.
And I’m so glad that Minori Chihara is singing the theme for the movie. I know the movie focuses more on Nagato, but I was afraid they would have Aya Hirano sing it simply because she is a more well-known voice actor and singer.

Aw, you had my hopes up there for a moment. It did seem too soon for the DVD release of the movie anyway.
My prediction is that they will be releasing the DVD, along with the 10th novel, sometime near May or June. At least that is what I am hoping for.

The movie actually opens with Bouken Deshou Deshou, a new recording, and closes with a new arrange of Hare Hare Yukai, then after, the new song is played on credits.

It’s nice that they’re releasing the Gensou DVD and all, but I’m sure everyone was bummed when the release date ended up being for that and not for SHnS.
I’m still drooling for this anime. Why won’t it get subbed earlier? does it take 6 weeks equivalent to 6 episodes?
probably not but still it could take longer, gee it seems this is only the beginning of delwayments so don’t get discouraged if they say there has been a delayment, but who knows

Everybody listen up! It’s fun to watch anime before anyone else by downloading it or looking it up, but when you upload it to the internet, you’re helping the anime company that made that anime lose money! For example, when Bandai licensed Haruhi to USA and dubbed it, they share the money they earn with Kadokawa Anime, right? So when you upload it to the internet instead of buying it, you’re making the company go bankrupt! If that happens, NO MORE HARUHI!!! We need to start buying anime again! http://www.saveouranime.com

Furikake, you forgot the fact that bandai can’t even release DVDs equal to fansubbed quality (I regrettably bought the first season from them so I know what i’m talking about). Subtitle colours glaring your eyes, subtitles being huge and in the middle of the screen, subtitles looking all ragged because they’ve been made so large and on top of that NONE of the original japanese bonus footage is in there (which was a lot of fun to watch, I downloaded those). Instead they replaced it with this American SOS brigade fallacy which had all the value of watching a cosplay act recorded at an anime convention.
Bandai needs to get their facts straight, people mostly care about the japanese voice actors. Forcing us to prefer the dubs by using unwatchable subtitles maybe? Who knows. Either way the japanese market is still going strong for Haruhi so I highly doubt we’d lose this show due to insufficient funds.
All I know is that i’m really concerned about buying DVDs from Bandai, and sadly they licensed quite some shows I like by now. In Europe everyone is used to making and watching subtitles so the result is far this group not having a clue about what they’re doing.
There’s also the matter of blu-ray discs becoming increasingly popular for fansubs because of the lovely video quality, but the blu-ray market is still lagging behind in the west so it’s a no-go for publishers to try and sell it to people who probably don’t have a player for it anyway.
In conclusion. Yes, the western anime market is probably at an all time low both due to recession and blu-ray downloads but that would just destroy the current settled order and make companies like Bandai come up with something better.
So the more we download now, the more we’ll punish them for making crap releases of great shows, the quicker we’ll see nice releases.

I watched the movie. Kyon goes into a new dimension due to one of the character’s special powers (bet you can’t guess), and everything is different. Asahina and Nagato have never met him, and Haruhi and the gay esper are in another school. It starts normally on the first part of the movie, everyone preparing for Christmas (and Mikuru-chan in a Santa suit!!!), then Kyon goes to bed and shifts. The brigade was never formed. Kyon flips a s–t and acts like a loonatic, and everyone thinks he’s delusional from a flue going around. He finds Haruhi, gathers the whole crew, and finds out that Nagato left a program on a computer that lets him choose between the worlds. He decides to use it and goes through a lot of crap before he makes his one final decision over which world he wants to choose. Beautiful scenery, Nagato is cuter than ever (you’ll like her more than Mikuru), and it has a twist ending that nobody here should spoil. It is released with a crappy theater-film by a guy who doesn’t know how to hold a camera, but it has one of fansubs best subbers! Hope the DVD comes out soon.
