Hi everyone, an ambitious new fan project has been started by one of our resident Haruhi forum members, Krennthief. As the title of this post says, it’s a Haruhi Suzumiya audiobook project with the voice talents provided by fans for fans. Below is a snipet explaining the audio book project and a sample recording from the man himself:

I will be reading the light novel series of Haruhi Suzumiya. You can call it whatever you want; an audiobook, a drama CD, or whatever. It will be read with enthusiasm, character, and I will try to add some of my own little dramatic elements into these works.

I will be doing Kyon’s voice for sure (as I am the one who is starting this project off), and most likely all of the male voices unless someone wishes to lend me their voice for a part.

I cannot impersonate female voices, with the exception of Asahina-san’s voice (surprisingly), so if anyone who is female, or can do a very convincing female voice, and willing to, then please, lend me your voice. This is more important than additional male voices. I want this to be a legit audiobook series, and for that to be possible, I want convincing voices.

I prefer you use some sort of audio mixing studio application and a decent quality microphone. If you can’t afford an audio mixing studio, I would suggest you look for the freeware application I use, which is Audacity. It’s easy to use, and comes with pretty much the same things you can find on an audio studio you can buy. Once you have recorded a clip, please export it as an MP3 or WAV file, label the file with your name (it can be your screen name; I’m all for security myself), your role, and the novel you read from. For reference, try using this format: Krennthief;Kyon;Disappearance

Since The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie is coming up, I will in fact, be reading the novel with the same name first. It is my personal favourite volume of the series, as it is the most dramatic, most clenching, and most exciting volume in the series. And because, of course, if you’ve seen most of my posts on this site, Nagato is one of the major characters, and there is a lot of character development for her.

So if you’re interested in being involved in this project, I’d be more than happy to take any helping hands you’ll be giving me.

What I need more than anything right now, though, are female voices, so please look into this. I am putting my heart into this project, and I promise you it will be very intriguing.

The disappearance is my favorite too as the Silence Yuki is just below Kyon (as the main character)

I have no acting talent or the right computer stuff so I can’t help out. But it sounds like a good project. I commend Krennthief for undertaking it and wish him luck! I’ll be looking forward to hearing it once it gets underway =D

I think I can help out, I’m not a really expeirienced in voice acting but I’ve practiced a lot, I think I can do a good Yuki voice (alternate also) I think I’ll go to the website.

cuz sadly i don’t have the novels anymore ):
due to baka tsuki deleting the english Haruhi Suzumiya novels.
So.. now I have nothing :’(
