Hi again Haruhi fans, hope you’ve had a fun Christmas. I opened up my email today and received a nice surprise – a link to a Haruhi Suzumiya visual novel game. The project is called the Worlds of Haruhi Suzumiya and it’s a working visual novel that’s set in the Haruhi universe but also draws on characters from other KyoAni anime like Clannad and Lucky Star, as well as other series. To those not familiar with what visual novels are, it’s a type of game quite popular in Japan; think of it as an interactive story where you can make choices at specific points in the game to influence your interaction with different characters and the outcome of events.

Here’s an excerpt from the website describing the premise of the game:

Worlds of Haruhi Suzumiya is fan-made visual novel that takes place in Haruhi Suzumiya’s Universe.

This year, Haruhi is now in her second year in high school, and is still searching for mysteries and strange events; as usual, she doesn’t find a single one. Even so, she does meet a strange new exchange student from another country, and reluctantly offers him a place at her house after his admission that he doesn’t have anywhere to stay.

However, Haruhi is unaware that this new student is one of the Dimensional Sliders that came into existence after she wished for them years ago, along with aliens, time travelers and espers.

The new student’s name is Alan, and his confusion at being dropped off all too suddenly in Haruhi’s universe is later clarified by three other Dimensional Sliders. These Sliders that Alan interacts with all come from a variety of places: Kanata Izumi (Lucky Star), Saya Minatsuki (Black Cat), and Fuko Ibuki (Clannad).

Sounds very cool. I haven’t had the chance to try it out yet (will soon), but it’s free to download for Mac, Windows and Linux systems. If you’re a fan of Haruhi fanfiction, make sure to check it out.

Quite good, only got the prologue though.

Ah I see, it’s a work in progress and they’ll release each chapter separately. I just finished playing the prologue. It was short but fun. Looking forward to seeing more of the story =)

the beta of prologue + ch1 is available on the forum. take a look. significant progress (visually at least) since the prologue in the dl section.

well I’ve got started on a new project this time it’s light novel! yay! any ways the stories are from Kyon’s perspective which means Kyon is never actually speaking then has said Kyon wearily more like i hope haruhi hasn’t changed the world again! also thoughts are shown on a different line than the dialogue such as this example..

argghhh my work! any way when will the next installation come out?
cause i doubt i can wait for further complications to occur with this fan visual novel! what with rumors flying around this is definitely needing fixing and haruhiists need stuff to enjoy with haruhi whatever the complication some one has to be the filler and apparently i have to be filler for them to make more chapters.
