4komas are a type of Japanese manga that are usually gag comic strips of popular anime or manga series that use a vertical series of four panels. Many of these are published by independent doujin artists at conventions in Japan. Probably the most popular are the Churuya-san 4komas made by Utsura Uraraka, which have been elevated to the status of an Internet meme. Churuya is a chibi version of Tsuruya, she even has been animated as part of the Haruhi Suzumiya-chan webisodes; her favorite food is smoked cheese and her favorite phrase is nyoro~n.

Another popular type of Haruhi 4koma’s are based on the fan-created Kyonko character. Not all of these are English translated.
