Suzumiya Haruhi 2009 episode 7: Endless Eight

27 July 2009 5 Comments

And we’re at it again with the endless summer loop, and this episode in particular seems to have only the slightest differences from the episodes before it. I was kind of expecting Kyon’s deja vu feeling would be getting stronger progressively with each episode, but it doesn’t feel he’s making any progress at all. The ending to this episode is exactly the same as the last three, or was it four, who knows. If you’re a loyal Haruhi but feeling a bit frustrated by the lack of progress in the new season, you’re not alone… check out the user ratings for season 2 at ANN and compare them to season 1; notice the big spike of negative ratings for season 2.

The previous time loop continues for the 15,525th time… and the same thing happens all over again – really nothing new happens… Tatsuya Ishihara is either trying to prove something or is completely losing touch with the fanbase.

Well, I’ve been downloading the fansubs every week, and for the past 4 episodes, I’ve been watching it within 30 secs. Nothing changes, no difference this time, EP 17 in 30 secs, refer to EP 16/15/14/13… This is bullshit..

I dunno, I think that it stretches out so long so that we get the feeling of how long it is, and how Nagato must feel. While I agree it is getting a tad annoying, I don’t think it would be the same if it only lasted one or two episodes.

I don’t mind it too much. However, I would have asked Nagato an additional question and a favor. I would have asked how many times we had realized time was looping, and I would have asked her to tell us what was going on next time the loop restarted.

i think endless eight gets an undeserved bad rap i really do besides every episode is not the same at all if you watch them closely some events are skipped over and just referred to by kyon, also the clothes and swimsuits are always different and events they do show are almost always done from different angles so i think it was an extremelly brave and clever series of animation just my opinion
