8 August 2008 No Comment

Episode 07. Mysterique Sign

Haruhi orders Kyon to make her a website for the SOS Brigade even though all they have to put on it is a logo she drew up. Shortly after wards, a shy girl by the name of Emiri Kimidori shows up at the club room and requests for help in finding her boyfriend, the Computer Research Society President. After going to his apartment and finding nothing unusual, Haruhi goes home. However, sensing something odd, the other members return to the apartment and are transported to another dimension. A Data Entity similar to the one which created Nagato attacks them in the form of a giant cricket. Nagato and Koizumi defeat it and find the missing computer club president. Nagato discovers that Haruhi’s SOS Brigade logo was responsible for the whole mess and alters it a bit so that it won’t cause anymore trouble in the future.

Trivia:
– When Itsuki is battling the giant cricket, he yells out the attack names “Fumoffu” and then “Second Raid”, these are the titles for the 2nd and 3rd Full Metal Panic series which are also animated by Kyoto Animation.
– Yuki and the Cricket are shown to be using the Lambda Driver’s ‘shield’ in a scene completely identical to fights throughout Full Metal Panic.
– The green drone beetle seen replenishing the cricket’s HP (Health Points) is a parody of SEGA’s arcade TCG (Trading Card Game), Mushi King.
– After the battle with the giant cricket, a poster of the three seiyuu playing Haruhi, Yuki and Mikuru can be seen behind Kyon in the computer president’s room.
– In the preview for episode 8 which came with episode 7, the episode title was written in the same way as the title for Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, a highly successful fan made murder mystery sound novel, correct down to the black background, white words, and single red letter.
