Episode 05. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya III

Kyon meets Nagato in her apartment and she begins a long explanation about herself and the Integrated Data Entity. Nagato explains that she is an alien or as she likes to put it – a humanoid interface. The next day, Haruhi recruits the fifth member to the SOS Brigade, Koizumi Itsuki. Later, she has a photo shoot of Mikuru in a maid outfit and takes a “hands-on” approach; Kyon can’t bring himself to protest on Asahina’s behalf. On the weekend, the entire brigade goes around the city looking for anything weird, alien or supernatural. They draw toothpicks to determine groups, and Haruhi is peeved that Kyon gets paired up with Mikuru. Mikuru takes the opportunity to explain to Kyon that she is actually a time traveler from the future to observe Haruhi. The next day at school, Koizumi talks to Kyon alone and reveals that he is what can be considered an esper and works for a mysterious group called the Organization.
