The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya episode 1

Mikuru Asahina’s Adventure Episode 00

The episode features the hilariously cheesy home-made quality movie which SOS Brigade made for the School Festival with Haruhi as the director. Kyon is the narrator for the movie. The movie is entitled “The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00″. The movie, of course, stars Mikuru Asahina as a time travelling battle waitress from the future who must do battle against the evil space alien witch played by Yuki Nagato. Mikuru’s mission is to protect a young man played by Itsuki Koizumi, who supposedly has a hidden power. The movie gets weirder still when a love triangle occurs between Mikuru and Yuki, who have both fallen in love with Itsuki.

Trivia:
- In the scene where Mikuru does the endorsement ad for their model shop sponsor, some model boxes can be recognized to be ones sold in real life, the most obvious one being the Perfect Grade GAT-X105 Strike Gundam from Gundam SEED (the rectangular white box) directly above Mikuru’s head.
- The cat-men motif sometimes seen throughout The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was originally drawn by Haruhi seiyuu Aya Hirano on the backside of scripts. Staff members discovered the sketches and incorporated them into the anime. Various variations of the cat-men illustrations could be seen throughout Haruhi Suzumiya merchandise (namely CDs and DVDs).

the 8 endless summer episodes will change your mind a bit I think. Why do in 8 episodes what they could have done in 2 or 3?
