Noizi Ito to Appear at Anime Expo 2013

Planning on attending Anime Expo 2013 this year? If you are so lucky, be sure to meet and greet with Haruhi Suzumiya character designer and illustrator, Noizi Ito. Ms. Ito will appear as a Guest of Honor for AX2013 and will likely have her own panel at the convention along with other notable guests such as Danny Choo (Mirai Inc.) and Mari Okada (Black Butler, Toradora!). Ms. Ito has worked as a character designer or illustrator on a number of popular series including The Melancholy of Haruhi …

Learn English with Yuki Nagato and Haruhi Suzumiya

Chukei Publishing Company (part of the Kadokawa Publishing group) is set to publish a new book that teaches English to Japanese students with help from the Haruhi Suzumiya series. This is not the first time Haruhi (and other anime characters for that matter) has been involved in promoting education — back in 2011, Chukei published a two-volume set of English vocabulary guides featuring Suzumiya Haruhi and friends to help Japanese school children and teens enhance their English skills in school. Similar books, such as chemistry books starring the …

Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya “Last in the Series” Error

Amazon has listed the North American release of the Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya as part of their titles available in 2013, but made a little boo-boo in the pre-order page. The original description says that the novel is the last in the series, but most Haruhi fans would know that neither the author Nagaru Tanigawa or publisher Kadokawa Shoten has made any indications of this during the Japanese release of the novel.
The Haruhi Suzumiya Series comes to a close with this tenth and final adventure for Haruhi and the …

Haruhi Manga: The Misfortune of Kyon and Koizumi

The Misfortune of Kyon and Koizumi is a collection of manga short stories by various artists starring… well, I’ll give you two guesses. It’s a anthology of mostly comedic Haruhi Suzumiya doujinshi. I don’t have too much detail on this manga anthology other than what’s provided by YenPress, the English publisher:
Boisterous, impulsive Haruhi Suzumiya commands the spotlight wherever she goes! But the SOS Brigade chief wouldn’t be any kind of chief at all without a supporting cast of club members to command as well. And there’s no one she loves …

Haruhi — Not mai waifu?

A recent poll on Japan’s website had otaku pick which female anime characters they are thankful they are not married to. What’s interesting about the poll is that none of the top 10 picks share any one particular trait that would make them bad candidates to hitch up with. Haruhi took the number 2 spot, only to be eclipsed by the enigmatic Hitagi Senjougahara from Bakemonogatari. Apparently, being the hugely popular star of your own hit anime series doesn’t always make you the ideal candidate for …

No Third Season of Haruhi Suzumiya?

I was reluctant to post this as news as 1. the ANN title is misleading and 2. I haven’t found multiple translation sources verifying the validity of the statement, but a lot people reported this in so I thought I’d throw it out there.
The story is based off of one post found on ANN:
– Aya Hirano tweets that she’s working on a “secret project”
– a reporter with J-cast speculates she is alluding to the third season of Haruhi Suzumiya
(the Aya Hirano sex scandal earlier this year has …
